Recitals
Recitals will be held at The First Parish of Watertown, unless otherwise indicated.
The dates in parentheses are postmark deadline dates for applications.
JUNIOR RECITALS: for students in GRADES K-6. Time limit:
five minutes (no exceptions).
January 13, 2008 (December 14, 2007)
INTERMEDIATE I RECITALS: For students in GRADES 6, 7 and 8 playing music
at the intermediate level. Time limit: five minutes (no exceptions). The
NANCY OLIVA AWARDS, established to encourage artistic achievement of students
of NEPTA’s independent teachers, will be awarded to four seventh graders
performing in the Intermediate I Recitals. The Awards will be sent by
mail. Eligibility: 7th graders who are studying piano privately in an independent studio.
February 3 , 2008 (January 4, 2008)
INTERMEDIATE II RECITALS: for students in GRADES 8, 9,
10, 11 and 12 playing music at the intermediate level. Time limit: eight
minutes (no exceptions). The WANDA PAIK AWARD, established to encourage the
artistic achievements of students of NEPTA's independent teachers, will
b awarded to four 8th graders performing in the Intermediate II recitals.
Eligibility: 8th graders who are studying piano privately in an independent studio.
February 10, 2008 (January 11, 2008)
COMPOSITION AND JAZZ RECITAL: for students of all ages.
Scores of original compositions are preferred, but tapes are acceptable.
THE ALICE PROCTER AWARD will be awarded for outstanding achievement in
composition. THE LOUISE HODDER OLSEN AWARD will be given to encourage
excellence in jazz improvisation. Only original improvisations by the performer
will be considered for the award.

20th/21st CENTURY RECITAL: for students in GRADES K-12.
Time limit: up to ten minutes for one piece (no exceptions). Music must
be at the intermediate or advanced level.

playing music at the advanced level. Time limit: ten minutes (no exceptions).

ENSEMBLE RECITAL: for students in GRADES K-12 playing music
at the intermediate or advanced level. Time limit: eight minutes maximum
(no exceptions). Ensembles may include music for two pianos, multiple
pianists, or pianists with instrumentalists or singers. Held at M.Steinert & Sons,
Natick
March 30, 2008 (February 29, 2008)
ADULT RECITAL: for students eighteen years of
age or older who play at the intermediate or advanced level. Time limit:
ten minutes (no exceptions). Held at M.Steinert & Sons,
